We visit the three highest peaks in Yorkshire. Pen-y-Ghent at 691m, Whernside at 728m and finally Ingleborough at 723m. The total distance walked is 37.5km/24 miles and 5,361ft/1643m of ascent), with the aim of completing this in less than 12 hours. This is a 12 hour walking challenge and therefore is a long and physically demanding walk with good navigational skills required on some sections in poor visibility. You will need good advanced planning and the right skills to achieve this challenge within the time allowed. Bags of determination and months of training too. These are not the highest of the peaks in the UK but they can be pretty hostile in poor weather. The total distance walked is 37.5km/24 miles and 5,361ft/1634m of ascent.

The walking is over a variety of terrains, and includes some of the most rugged and spectacular countryside in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Even though the challenge is mainly on paths which have been improved immensely over recent years, certain sections can still be very boggy and energy sapping.

We at Saaig Outdoors can help you in every area from talking you though the physical training you will need to the practical elements such as:

Where can I stay locally?
What food should I take with me?
What route do you take?
Where can you get the best pint after a 12 hr walk!
